The influence of accelerated weathering, xenon-arc light and freeze-thaw cycling on wood plastic composites extruded from a recycled plastic was studied. The results showed that, in general, weathering had a stronger impact on samples made from plastic waste compared to a sample made from virgin material.
ACT Composite Timbers is a recycled plastic lumber company, offering the most advanced technology available with structural properties and able to withstand the factors that decimate treated wood, especially in outdoor applications.
While it's more resistant to mold and rot, the composite lumber is more rigid in the cold and more pliable in the heat than plastic lumber. It's also significantly more expensive than conventional treated lumber products.
Composite structural lumber products by Bedford Technology are truly low-maintenance – they don’t need to be painted or stained and graffiti comes right off with a pressure washer. Our recycled plastic lumber can withstand extreme environments because it doesn’t rot, splinter or degrade and structural integrity is built into the product.
While the initial cost to purchase recycled plastic lumber can run 2-3 times that of standard wood materials, it becomes considerably less expensive long-term when you factor in the maintenance cost avoidance plus removal and replacement labor.
July 28, 2015 Since the 1990s, a number of technologies emerged to use recycle plastics as a replacement for conventional wood lumber. Recycled plastic lumber was developed in the production of exterior deck boards, moldings, doorjambs, window casings, playground equipment, railway ties, pilings, posts, fencing products, as well as outdoor furnishings.
